Jr. Scrum Master

Our client is looking for a team-oriented, self-starter Jr. Scrum Master  to support their  growing engineering and product teams in Ashburn, VA!

Here' s what you' ll be doing:
  • Managing  new product features and enhancements in terms of scope, quality, and schedule within sprint cycles
  • Providing  hands-on management and facilitation of scrum teams in all aspects of scrum (facilitating daily stand-up meetings, backlog refinement, sprint planning, sprint demo and retrospective meetings, self-organization, collaboration, iterative development, managing flow, calculating velocity, limiting work in progress, etc.)
  • Assuring quality user stories that meet organizational standards which may require the Scrum Master to facilitate in or assist with writing team-driven user stories
  • Working effectively with program management and team members to clarify needs and planning delivery of major product changes, future versions and new products
  • Proactively managing  sprint-level risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies, ensuring that they are identified, coordinated, mitigated or escalated as necessary
  • Removing  impediments that would prevent the team from achieving its sprint and release goals (internal and external to the team)
  • Reviewing current agile processes, drive process improvements and challenge the teams to innovate
  • Effectively maintaining and managing  agile project management tools and processes, including documentation and artifacts
  • Performing miscellaneous support tasks as needed throughout the entire Software Development Life Cycle
  • Creating  an environment that empowers and energizes team members, with a focus on accountability, adaptability, and collaboration
  • Contributing  to building a culture where continuous improvement of the agile process is in focus
  • Continually seeking out ways to enhance agile knowledge and technical expertise

Here' s what our ideal candidate has:
  • 1 year of experience in a Scrum environment, preferably in SAFe, Kanban or financial services industry
  • Strong independent leadership skills with the ability to lead a large team with minimal oversight including the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines in a results-oriented, fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Excellent verbal and communications skills
  • Ability to provide creative, out of the box solutions to solving challenging problems
  • Must have situational awareness and intuition with an understanding of when to listen and when to be assertive
  • An ability to question existing processes and provide ideas for improvement
  • Ability to interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices
  • Actively studying for Scrum certifications, or already holds a Certified Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), or SAFe Agilist (SA) certification
