Job Description


This role is for a Field Service Engineer (FSE) responsible for providing onsite diagnostic and analytical support for customers within a designated geographic territory. The FSE responds to system failures by performing hardware service, testing, diagnostic analysis, and systems analysis of hardware, storage area networks, and system configurations. Candidates with experience in enterprise hardware and systems, particularly Dell, IBM, NetApp, EMC, HP Proliant, Hitachi, and Cisco networking, are preferred. The successful candidate must possess strong technical aptitude, customer service skills, and the ability to work independently while exhibiting leadership and collaboration when necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Provide timely and effective onsite technical support to customers, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Perform problem analysis and identification remotely before arriving at customer sites, minimizing downtime and multiple trips.
  • Analyze, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair hardware, storage area network, and systems configuration and compatibility problems.
  • Utilize multiple tools for remote system connection to perform remote diagnosis, repair, or configuration changes.
  • Manage inventory and parts, accurately determining needed parts and quantities based on contracts in the service area.
  • Complete administrative tasks promptly and accurately, including audit forms, email replies, timesheets, and expense reports.
  • Attend and actively participate in regularly scheduled team meetings.

What we’re looking for
  • Minimum seven (7) years of specific experience working with OEM data center hardware.
  • Solid technical aptitude and understanding of different OEM equipment with the ability to grasp new products/concepts.
  • Demonstrated experience providing customer service and ability to prioritize customer needs.
  • Ability to work independently, exhibit leadership, and collaborate effectively with others.
  • CompTIA A+ and Server+ certifications preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an appropriate driving record based on travel requirements.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, bending, and stooping for extended periods.
  • Must be able to pass customer background screenings and pre-employment screenings.

Bonus Points
  • Certification and other OEM computer hardware certifications from major vendors such as Dell, IBM, HP, etc.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (i.e., Computer Science, Engineering) or equivalent experience.

Education
  • High School Degree required.

Travel
  • Must be able to travel to client sites up to 75% of the time within a predetermined territory radius.
