We are looking for a Network Engineer II for one of our telecom clients that would be join the team on a contract-basis. You'll be responsible for testing, validation, and engineering support of Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) and related network systems. This role focuses on end-to-end device testing, firmware validation, and network engineering within cable and fiber environments. The ideal candidate has a strong background in DOCSIS technologies, ISP environments, and hands-on lab testing, with an emphasis on automation and continuous improvement.

Need to Know:
- 12-month contract (long term w/ extensions)
- Hybrid requirement: 4 days/week in office
- Location: Greenwood Village
- Only open to W2 at this time
- Full-time hours, not a part-time opportunity

Key Responsibilities
- Perform end-to-end testing and validation of CPE devices and backend systems impacting device performance
- Execute test cases, document results, and troubleshoot issues including field escalations
- Support firmware certification processes by identifying and resolving defects prior to release
- Work with DOCSIS cable modems, wireless routers, PON/ONU devices, and CMTS-to-CPE interoperability
- Contribute to network engineering efforts including design, build, and implementation (not operations-focused)
- Develop and support automation test cases using scripting tools such as Python or Perl
- Analyze and validate provisioning and network protocols including DHCP, DNS, IPv4, IPv6, and RIP
- Support technologies such as TR-069, FTTH (Fiber to the Home), IP routing, multicast, voice services, and home networking
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve product quality and network performance
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering, preferably within a cable MSO or ISP environment
- Strong experience with DOCSIS technologies and cable modem testing
- Experience with end-to-end device testing, CPE validation, and lab testing environments
- Knowledge of provisioning and networking protocols (DHCP, DNS, IPv4/IPv6)
- Experience with scripting (Python or Perl) for testing and automation
- Solid understanding of firmware testing and validation processes
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with fiber technologies (PON, ONU)
- Background in wireless testing (802.11) or mobile networks (acceptable alternative to DOCSIS)
- Familiarity with automation frameworks and tools (automation environment currently ~80% automated, targeting 90%)
- DOCSIS certification (highly desired)
- Experience with databases and system administration

- Self-starter with the ability to work independently
- Effective collaborator with strong communication skills
- Enthusiasm for working with CPE devices and emerging network technologies
