Role Overview
We are seeking a senior-level, hands-on Data Architect to support a critical data platform stabilization initiative within a complex enterprise environment for our client. This contract role requires a strong technical leader who can quickly assess existing systems, identify issues, and implement scalable, high-quality data solutions with minimal ramp-up time.
The ideal candidate combines architectural expertise with deep hands-on engineering capability, particularly across Azure-based data platforms and distributed systems. This individual will play a key role in improving data reliability, governance, and observability while working closely with engineering teams.
This position is hybrid, with 3 days/week in-office in Cleveland, OH.
NOTE: Candidates not local to Cleveland, OH will not be considered.
This role is for a 6-month contract (potential to extend).

What We’re Looking For

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement enterprise data architecture and canonical data models

Analyze, troubleshoot, and stabilize data pipelines and cross-platform data flows

Perform hands-on SQL analysis and data reconciliation across multiple systems

Define and enforce data governance, ownership, and quality standards

Build and enhance data validation, monitoring, and observability frameworks

Improve data lineage tracking and overall governance processes

Leverage AI-driven analytics and automation tools to detect anomalies and accelerate insights

Collaborate closely with engineering and platform teams to align data architecture with system integrations
Required Skills

Strong expertise in enterprise data architecture and data modeling

Advanced proficiency in SQL and data analysis

Hands-on experience with Azure data platform services, including:

Azure Data Factory

Azure SQL / Synapse
-

Experience with event-driven and distributed data systems

Deep understanding of data governance and data quality frameworks

Familiarity with AI-assisted analytics or automation tools
Experience Requirements

8–10+ years of experience in data architecture or data engineering

Proven track record designing and stabilizing enterprise-scale data platforms

Demonstrated ability to analyze production data and resolve data integrity issues

Experience working within cloud-based data environments, preferably Azure
